Combatants for Peace

Former combatants choosing nonviolent resistance and a shared future.

Combatants for Peace is a joint Palestinian-Israeli community of former combatants who once took part in violence and now work together to end occupation, discrimination, and oppression.

Their work begins with a powerful act of transformation: refusing to deny the past, while choosing to turn it into a foundation for joint action. In a context shaped by trauma, fear, violence, and separation, Combatants for Peace shows that people who were once part of the conflict can become leaders in nonviolent resistance, reconciliation, and shared responsibility.

Their Role in Civil Society

Combatants for Peace holds a distinctive place in the Palestinian and Israeli civil society ecosystem. Its members speak with the moral weight of lived experience: people who know the machinery of violence from within, and who have chosen another path.

Through dialogue, public action, ceremonies, education, and nonviolent organizing, they challenge the belief that Palestinians and Israelis are destined only for fear or revenge. Their work creates spaces where truth-telling, grief, accountability, and solidarity can become the basis for a different future.

Mission

Combatants for Peace is a joint Palestinian-Israeli community of former combatants working in solidarity to end the occupation, discrimination, and oppression of all people living in Israel and Palestine.

Guided by the values of nonviolent resistance, they seek to transform personal and collective histories of violence into joint, constructive action — showing that another way is possible.
