Partner: Combatants for Peace
In 2025, as the war in Gaza continued and violence escalated across Gaza and the West Bank, Combatants for Peace activated its Palestinian-Israeli network to respond to urgent humanitarian needs while sustaining joint nonviolent resistance.
B8 of Hope contributed to Combatants for Peace’s emergency crowdfunding campaign, standing alongside other partners to help the movement move quickly in a moment of crisis.
What B8 of Hope Supported
Through this emergency campaign, Combatants for Peace advanced several urgent responses.
Support for Children from Gaza
As some of the youngest survivors of the war — now orphaned — were relocated to Bethlehem for care, Combatants for Peace helped prepare them for the new school year with school bags, clothing, lunchboxes, and other essentials.
This support was practical, but it also carried a message of recognition and dignity during an unimaginable period of loss.
With B8 of Hope’s contribution, Combatants for Peace was also able to support displaced children from the Al Kaabneh Bedouin community in the Jordan Valley, as well as displaced children in Al-Auja near Jericho.
Emergency Relief for Displaced Families in Tulkarem
Following repeated military invasions that destroyed homes and displaced more than 32,590 people in the Tulkarem refugee camp and the northern West Bank area, Combatants for Peace volunteers distributed food, diapers, infant formula, and basic supplies to families left without shelter.
At the same time, Combatants for Peace activists in the United States launched an advocacy campaign to raise awareness of the situation and call attention to the risks faced by residents.
Clean Water in the Jordan Valley
In the Jordan Valley, where Palestinian communities faced escalating settler violence and severe restrictions on water infrastructure, Combatants for Peace delivered water tanks to families facing drought and the threat of displacement.
The initiative helped meet a basic survival need while supporting communities’ ability to remain on their land.
Emotional Resilience for Activists
Combatants for Peace also supported the people carrying this work forward. Throughout the year, the movement facilitated peer support, community-care spaces, and trauma-informed workshops for Palestinian and Israeli activists working under extreme emotional strain and physical danger.
These spaces helped strengthen the movement’s capacity to continue nonviolent action during an acute crisis.
What the Grant Made Possible
This Emergency Response Grant helped Combatants for Peace respond to several urgent needs at once: children needing school essentials after devastating loss, families needing food and basic supplies after displacement, communities needing access to water, and activists needing care in order to keep going.
The support was not only humanitarian. It also helped sustain the relationships, courage, and shared moral commitment that make joint nonviolent action possible in the hardest moments.
Why it matters
Emergency support matters because crises do not wait. When homes are destroyed, children are displaced, water access is threatened, and activists are under pressure, trusted civil society networks can respond quickly and humanely.
Combatants for Peace’s emergency work showed what solidarity can look like in practice: Palestinians and Israelis acting together to meet urgent needs, protect dignity, and keep alive a vision of justice rooted in shared humanity.
